2020 UBBA State Tournament Cancelled

UBBA Members,

With the unknown timing of a return-to-play date for drafts, opening days and league play, it is the belief of the UBBA Executive Board that our annual state tournament will not be possible this calendar year. As a result, the UBBA State Tournament for the 2020 season has been cancelled.

In addition to our conversations with you, much of this decision was based on the information Governor Herbert shared with the state in the document titled, "Utah Leads Together - Utah's plan for a health and economic recovery."   We 100% agree with him that youth sports and baseball will be an important part of the recovery process.

We plan to move forward with UBBA and support the youth of this great state.  Even without the end result of a state tournament this year, we stand ready to assist in any manner needed with your leagues. Please do not hesitate to call or ask for help. Rule books are printed and will be used for league play this year and next.

UBBA membership will continue to be based on the same guiding principles of fairness and level play, as it relates to putting teams on the field. We strongly recommend all teams be redrafted prior to the start of the regular season next year, with sound practices that follow a recreation philosophy.

Depending on what our travel and meeting restrictions look like, we're hopeful we can host a traditional UBBA member meeting in mid-July. In the meantime, please stay safe, healthy and positive about the return of baseball in Utah and leagues everywhere! Good luck with your programs and please keep us posted on your progress this season.
